I too thought Shrek was going to be a huge cake hit, but it hasn't yet.... maybe once it comes out on DVD it will be more of a success.

I made a Shrek cake (not in my photos) and I just did a mini castle and my customer had Shrek candies (faces of the characters) that we put on the windows....

Maybe you can get some pics of the characters and do buttercream transfers all around the cake.. Here is one I did.. i actually did two of these for twin brothers

I actually thought of doing an outrageous sheetcake with some cool images made in fondant color flow or someting like that, my Baby is turning one and he is turning 3 so I think I want to spend more time on her 1st bday cake than his plus he's 3 he thinks anything that resembles green is Shrek! I al going to do a 3 with the Shrek ears like Shrek like they did for the movie, I just saw on a cake in the galleries how cool!!!!!!!

What about chocolate transfers. I have not tried these yet but it might be easier to do if you are set on doing all of the characters. Maybe you can do a tiered cake of the swamp with the transfers. Just an idea. Good luck.

I just uploaded an easy Shrek cake I did last year. It was for a 3 year old and he loved it. You could do the same kind of thing with a picture of more characters if you wanted...

Here's the Shrek cake I did for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I waited until the last minute to do it and had way too much on my plate between going to school and working full time and being a beginner at cake decorating. I wanted to make her cake so badly. Ignore the misspelling and the temptation of cake for a two year old! This was my attempt at working with fondant and I made my own. Here ya go.
