I baked cupcakes to take to school for my 6 yr olds' birthday and I got my first request (for cookies.. I'm so excited.. what a dork. icon_razz.gif) but I need some help/info. My sons' teacher invited me to the class Halloween party (He's a 1st grader.) and also asked me to bake the cookies. She wasn't real specific as to what she wanted. "Probably just a sugar cookie?" (is what she said) but she did ask if maybe I could do them in a Halloween theme ie: bats, pumpkins, ghosts..
Well that leads me to my idea, but I need a bit of help carrying it out. LOL I love the idea of the "cookie bouquets" and I was thinking of doing this with the cookies and arranging them in a trick or treat pumpkin. I need help with what is the best to cover them with.. MMF? or BC? I've never tried the buttercream that hardens, would this be good? I'd like something that will "hold up" if that makes any sense.. then aside from what to coat them in.. LOL Anyone know a good cookie recipe for bouquets?? icon_biggrin.gificon_razz.gif
Thank you all so much in advance!! icon_smile.gif

you could try Antonias icing but MMF works well too I dont think the buttercream would be good though.. tastes great but not "sturdy" enough...

as for the sticks you can use the larger popsicle type sticks (tongue depressor size) to make it easier for them to hold on to.
Oh, and I definitle recommend the no fail cookie recipe in the recipe section icon_biggrin.gif

You are probably going for something more elaborate but sugar stencils are always an option to, for variety but I'm sure you'll get much better ideas on here.

I'd go with No-Fail Sugar Cookies and Antonia's Icing. Just remember to thin down the icing when you do the flooding.

I would like to suggest the holder for this bouquet. If you have access to a craft store that sells the carveable pumpkins, get one of those, drill some holes in it to hold the cookies, then paint a spooky face on it, so the sticks don't show.

The No-Fail Sugar cookies and Chocolate rolled cookies are very good! Links below:

I would go w/Antonia74's icing, it's a modified royal. It dries hard on the outside but is still nice and soft on the inside.

Here's a wonderful tutorial she provided!

Best of luck to you! And we'd all really love to see pictures if you get the chance! Happy baking!

P.S. There is NOTHING dorky about being excited over cookies! LOL icon_razz.gificon_razz.gif
