I have a cookie order (300) for wedding favors. I'll be using my prize-winning vanilla sugar cookie recipe in a heart shape. The happy couple want the cookies decorated with half the cookie being teal and the other half being in chocolate brown. The two colors are to be zig-zaged where they meet in the middle. Their initials M & M will be done in contrasting color on either side. My questions: I know I could do these with color flow royal but what I would really like to do them in is chocolate using candy melts. Can I melt the chocolate, tint it and "flow" it just like color flow?? I've never worked with chocolate before so I'm coming to the experts! Thanks!

To color chocolate or candy melts, you have to use a made-for-chocolate color. They are generally cocoabutter or oil based. If you use icing colors, the chocolate will sieze.

I know CC sells a product to allow you to color your chocolate with icing colors... Here we go...

http://shop.cakecentral.com/flocoat-p-1006.html

Not sure about the whole color flow chocolate idea though... (I think it mentions something about flowing in the article w/the product above though...) I'm sure other CC members will be able to help you out! Good luck w/that and post some pictures if you can! thumbs_up.gif

Hi, maybe this will help, Wilton makes candy coloring just like they do for icing. You just buy the white chocolate melts and color them and of course the chocolate candy melts. To "color flow with them use a plastic bottle and melt they candy and use the nozel that comes with the bottle to do it. Again hope this helps, sorry this is so long

You can definitely use chocolate as you would color flow. I have used the Flow Coat by Americolor with great success, but for your purposes, I would consider using powdered color, since you will have to thin the chocolate to do the flooding.

Here's a link to candylandcrafts food colors.

Thin your chocolate for flooding by adding 1 Tablespoon of Paramount Crystals to 1 lb of chocolate.

(info on paramount crystals is at the bottom of the yellow section)
