Shrink Wrapping Cookies?

Hi Ladies!

I was wondering if anyone here does, or knows how to shrink wrap cookies. I have been using the clear bags and tying with ribbin, but would like to shrink wrap as well.

I am wanting to shrink wrap like they do at bakeries, gourmet stores, etc. where the cookies are wrapped individually and the shrink wrapping is completely tight around the cookies.

Also, how long do you think they would last like this, and where do you buy the supplies?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

you need to get shrink wrapping bags......they are a special cellophane like bag, you can try the craft store but I think they only have the larger ones like for gift baskets......you might look online.......if you find a bag small enough you can definitely do it.......you just tie the bag shut getting as much air out as possible and then use a hair dryer and the bag shrinks up around it. I use the shrink bags all the time for cookie bouquets but haven't done individual cookies, though I don't see why you couldn't.......you just have to be careful if you have chocolate or something on your cookies because it can melt if you hold the hair dryer in one spot too long. They last for quite some time....probably weeks at least and will still taste fresh!

here is a site that sells some

good luck

I shrink wrap my cookies a lot. I have the I Bar thingee from the above mentioned website (papermart) and I love it. I seal the shrink wrap all around the cookie and then use a heat gun to shrink it. It took some practice to learn to do cookies on a stick but I like the look of it. I always shrink wrap if I am shipping cookies or if someone requests it. It does, in MHO, give the cookies a more "professional" look. And it does keep the cookies fresher, longer. Just make sure you use a "FDA approved for direct contact" shrink wrap-and they will be labeled as such.

I shrink wrap all the cookies i send. I use and impulse sealer on the bags then heat gun to shrink the bags. I get my shrink wrap bags from Sunrise Packaging and sometime Paper Mart. You can get the sealers from them also. The cookies stay good for a couple weeks as long as you seal as soon as possible.

Happy Baking
