It was brought to my attention at the venue I sell at that "Puppy Love Confections" resembles an "adult movie" (I dont know anything about that genre) So I need to change my name because I dont want people getting the wrong idea. I have no idea to replace it with. I want something has to do with my ancestry. I'm Scotch/Irish. Can someone throw out some ideas?

Well, first I was thinking just change confections to cakes or cakery or bakery. But if you want an Irish/Scotch flavor (btw....me too... ), I'm gonna have to think on that for a bit. The ideas that came to mind initially don't really shout 'cake' to me.

Also, I don't know anything about that movie either...I never got that impression from your name. How long have you had it? If it has been a long time, maybe the reference is pretty obscure, and you don't have to change anything.

hmmm I dont think there is anything wrong with the name you have but along the lines of heritage (mine are the same lol) I thought maybe something like "The Thistle & The Shamrock Bakery" just a thought

I honestly don't know what they are talking about and wouldn't bother changing it... they have made adult movies under every name possible so almost anything you choose could potentialy be similar to an adult movie.

Also, one of my friends is very familiar with those types of movies... no judgement and I told her your name and she said 'Huh?'. She has no idea what they are talking about either and her and her husband are sort of into that sort of thing...... Just my opinion, of course. I would just hate for you to have to change after you have developed a name people may recognize - it's sort of like starting over....

You're right- there is probably an adult movie for every name you can think of but being I live smack in the Bible Belt, I dont want to ruffle any (more) feathers so I'll suck it up and swap it.

They come up with all sorts of names for those movies, and there are millions out there, so the next thing you pick could just as easily be accidentally similar.

I'd guess that no one would assume that you'd named your baking business after an adult flick...

Man, why do people have to try to make something dirty out of everything these days? That name was perfectly innocent as far as I am concerned.

My vote keep PL - it sounds sweet & young to me. Thistle is prickly! I guess I'm had a bad time picking the stickers about on a 2.5 hour drive home no long ago.....
