Bad Bag?

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to cake decorating had my first class last week. LOVED IT!!!!! thumbs_up.gif I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. I inherited a few decorating things. One is a Wilton featherweight bag. When I put my coupler and tip on, fill it with icing and try to make something the end of the bag is not straight. I didn't know if these bag wear or stretch out of shape or am I not getting things together right? I have been using parchment triangles and don't seem to be having this problem. Thank you so much for your input. I like being able to refill the featherweight bag, but if they are going to need to be replaced often the triangles are so much cheaper.

Not sure if I understand the predicament. Was the tip end cut? Maybe it wasn't cut straight. I have a couple featherweight bags and they seem find. I too, usually use parchment so haven't noticed a problem.

Does the icing come out okay even if the bag is crooked?

Hello Ameena,

The tip was cut. I used it a few times and it seemed to be straight, but today I was having a hard time making my rose petals stand up. I got to looking at the bag and the tip was crooked. I thought maybe I had the coupler and tip on wrong and reloaded the bag. It still leaned. Thank you for your help. I'm really stumped on this one.

I always use the featherweight bags and have never had the problem you're describing. As Ameena mentioned, you may want to check that the cut line for the coupler hols is straight. If not, try to straighten it. I use my bags for eons before needing to replace, so hopefully you can get this figured out. Perhaps you should take it in and ask your instructor since she will be able to actually see the problem.
