I bought the electric Wilton chocolate melter and have so far tried to melt white chocolate chips and white chocolate candy melts. They only seem to get soft and form a think paste, not melt all the way so they are pourable. What am I doing wrong??? I have it on the melt setting but it's just too thick to work with. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just white chocolate or any chocolate? Should I return this, is it a waste of money?

I just tried it last night for the first time. I used the dark chocalote candy melts and it worked great. Maybe try the regular chocolate and see if it works better if not you might have a bad pot.

Make sure everything is clear of water or any moiture. Even a drop can cause wafer choclate to cease.. White chocolate chops don't melt to pouring from my experience..Regular chcolate needs to be tempered-even chips. They will bloom otheriwse. I just melt them in the microwave-It works great for me!

I made sure everything was dry before I started, and it happened twice. I guess it's just because it's white chocolate that it didn't get to be pourable. I'll have to dry some dark or milk chocolate instead. If that doesn't work, maybe I do have a bad pot! Thanks for the tips!

add a little paramount crystals or a little crisco..a bit at at a time till they 'loosen' up.

I would check the use by date on your chocolate first. I have noticed that if it is near to expire the chocolae tends to be a bit on the stale side and have that problem using a double boiler especially white chocolate.
