I was recently searching for some online sites for good prices on luster dust. My local store sells it for $2.99 for the 2 gram jar. I searched online and found it for $2.69....and I thought that was good. Then I found a site where it is only $3.98 for a TWO-PACK. That's less than $2 a jar! I was excited, and wonder if anyone has used this site before....it's called "PaylessCakeDecor.com" Anyone?
Wow, that is a great price. I have never heard of the site but I am going to check it out. It costs me $3.50 for a little tiny jar at my cake store!
Cool! Wish you could mix & match though - like get 2 of 2 different colors for that price.....
I can't figure out if the price is for 2 2gam containers or for 2 grams total? I want to think its 2 2gram jars, but are we being decieved?
I just emailed them regarding the 2-pack thing. You can barely see on the little jar that it says 2 grams so it SHOULD be 2 jars for a total of 4 grams but this would not be the first time advertising was sketchy on purpose
I just took a look.
It is very deceiving. It says "weight 2 grams". Is that for each container or total weight of the 2 pack?
If it is 3.98 for 4 ounces..great price. If not they are very clever in their wording.
Let us know what answer you get from your email.
Just wanted to let y'all know, I got my package today from www.paylesscakedecor.com. I received two 2-gram containers of each color of luster dust that i ordered. THE PRICES ARE AMAZING!!! They were packaged very well and I look forward to ordering from this company again!!!! I also got some sugar flowers. Not a single one broken except the stamens came out of one. They're pretty small flowers so that may be why none broke. I must say I am overjoyed w/this company (a division of Caljava) and am placing another order as soon as possible!!!!! Thanks Sumer for posting the link!
That is a great price! I bought a jar of silver luster dust here at a local cake store and it cost me $11.00 CAN. I'm not sure how many grams but the container is only about as round as a quarter and about 3/4 of an inch high. It's one of the only cake supply stores here so I guess they can charge anything they want.
I have noticed that some 'white' luster dusts are given names like red pearl, orange pearl.........but they are white. What does this mean? Does the luster dust change colors once it is applied?
Yeah, some of the white luster dusts have like an irredecent sheen to them when they're applied. The look super cool!
Well I'm glad to hear that it was such a great deal! I was a little bit apprehensive at first, cause you never know these days. But after hearing these nice things, I just might try them out!
Thanks for passing along your info!
Diana
I have never used the dusts before, but think they are so cool. Just how much cake would a 2 gram jar of this stuff cover? I want to order some of this stuff to try, but I don't know how much to order... (Oh how I wish I could order 2 or 3 jars of every color!!!!)
A little dust goes a long way, I am just now running out of my silver that I got almost a year ago. I've used it for silver tools, to lightly dust things and one of my kids knocked at least 1/4 of the jar out.
I just got my order from Paylesscakedecor too, and it was exactly as advertised.....TWO of each jar of luster dust....for $3.98. It was so fast, too....I ordered at the end of last week and it came today.....from CA to VA. I'm convinced, and will order ALL my luster dust from them!
Luster dust is a sheen powder that you can brush on dry or mix with vodka or other alcohol-based liquid to paint onto icing or cookies. It leaves a pearlescent kind of finish. Sparkle dust is just like glitter that is finely crushed, but is edible. It does not mix up like luster dust, but is best sprinkled onto a cake or icing.
Petal dust doesn't have a sheen to it. Petal dust is more to add color than luster. It looks really pretty used on flowers to make them look more realistic.
