Hello! I am just beginning to work with gumpaste and find it to be very frustrating!! It is so delicate it is hard to make the desired shapes, especially roses! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Wish I could be more help...but I am not great with gumpaste either. I have a book I use when I am going to try to do them and I just keep on till I get em good enough to use. Which isn't easy for me.
What recipe are you using??? I had a really hard time whe I first tried gumpaste..It's tough when your not quite sure how it should feel. I started with Wilton's gumpaste mix...What a disaster!! I use Nicholas Lodge's recipe... It's super easy to make and great to work with.
How does your gumpaste feel? Does it stretch at all? Are you using shortening when you work with it???
Hmmm...I have been using Wilton's gumpaste....Maybe I need to try the recipe you are talking about as well.
You can get his recipe here...http://www.nicholaslodge.com/gumpaste.htm I love it!! It's easy to make and work with.. I would recommend giving it a try. He sells a video on how to make gumpaste that may help you. All his videos/dvd's are awesome... He's a great instructor!! [/url]
I have been using Wiltons stuff, without any shortening, so last night I put a tiny bit of crisco on my hands, and it really worked! I still have some trouble forming the roses, maybe Ill get that video. Today , I go back to the rose trenches, Ill try to post some pics of the ones I have done! Thanks again!
I've had problem with the wilton stuff too. I think I'll try nick lodge's recipe next time... I've heard great things about it!
Another Nick Lodge fan here! Try his gumpaste recipe and I really recommend his videos--they are fabulous!
