Anyone else from La.? I'm from Evangeline Parish (central La.).
Do you work out of your home or a bakery?

I'm a SAHM baking for fun. However my hobby has become quite expensive. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hello,

I'm from SW Louisiana. I have a full time job so when I do a cake, it's usually for a special occasion requested by someone. I'm a single mom, so unfortunately I have to work out of the home. I would love to be able to spend more time decorating cakes. Maybe one day!! icon_razz.gif

Hi
I am living in washington parish. We just moved over here from OZ 2 months ago my husband is from here.
As I am not yet a legal resident I am just pottering around the house doing a few cakes for family and friends. But hope to set up my own cake business from home.

I'm from Prairieville (that's in Ascension Parish).

I work full time and have been making cakes for family and friends on the side. I've always been the baker in the family icon_biggrin.gif

KODYSMOM,

I'm in Lake Charles too!

Ladies we need to try and get a Louisiana "Day-of-Sharing" going.... I went to one up in Bossier City that tcturtleshell had and we had a blast!! Learned all kinds of stuff from each other .... it would be a lot of fun to have one maybe in a centralized location where all of us could attend... think about it and let me know!

A DOS sounds great!!!!!!!!! I'm in southeast - New Orleans LA
I only bake for for myself & sometimes I'll share my master pieces with family, but I hate to share! icon_biggrin.gif
I would love to do it full-time, but lack that type of experience.

I am in New Orleans.

Dh and I are originally from here, but left the area a few years back to move to NC. We bought a house near the base of the Great Smoky Mountains. icon_smile.gif

We came back here in June of this year due to his job. We still call NC home.

I'm in Lafayette! I am a SAHM with two children. I do cakes mostly for friends and family. I am finding it stressful, with two small children. I would like to really pursue it as a career when my children are of school age. I am self-taught and love to decorate!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I think that would be a lot of fun to get together in Louisiana!! Great idea!!
Maybe you can post a couple of options of when and where. We can discuss it and make it "a date"!!

Sounds great to me ... I'm sure we could find a place that would be kind of a central location for everyone to meet and share what they know. We just need to get who all would be interested, find a location, then get an definite date, plan an agenda of what all we'd each like to do or see done for the day... let's start this thing ladies!!

Anyone have some helpful tips on how to organize this?
Someone want to suggest a date or meeting place in Lafayette, Crowley, or Jennings?

I would vote for Lafayette as a location.
Anyone want to be in charge of setting a date? Probably need someone to step up and just pick a date and whoever can come, comes.
Then on that day maybe we can come up with a more organized way to handle things from here on out.
Just my 2 cents icon_wink.gif

I have Saturday's open in October and can do the same in November. I work Tuesday's through Friday's during the week and work a part-time job on Monday's too. I can take off work during the Tuesday - Thursday timeframe. On Friday's, I'm usually the only person in the office and someone has to be here... that is everyone else in our office off day...

Is anyone familiar with the Lafayette area and where we could hold a DOS at?

I was wondering if a conference/meeting room at one of the local motels would work, or would that be too pricey? I don't know what they charge for something like that. Just a thought.
