until we leave Germany. I will be shipping my cake kit in the shipment of household goods. So these will be my final cakes for a couple of months at least. I want and need to make a cake for the 4th of july weekend that wont be hard just trying to think of the best cake to make.... the one I am most worried of is my husbands going away party on the 16th of July. We will be putting it on ourselves, even though the squadron is supposed to, so this means I am doing it all once again...no problem, I did it when he was promoted. But I want an idea for the going away cake. I have made one for a couple of people here drawing Germany and the state or country they are going to, but dont want ot do it for this one....I want people to know (or think) I have more of an imagination then just those...so I am open for ideas..... we are going to Langley Virginia hubby is being put in the federal side of the base. ok LET THE IDEAS FLOW.

Flavy, you probably have shipped most of your pans, if you don't have the USA map pan, could you make a USA map outline, and make a big deal out of "WE'RE GOING HOME!" Put on some fireworks (for the 4th), maybe an airplane, etc., just make a big collage of what you expect to have when you get back. That may be a little hazy, but hopefully there is a seed of an idea in there! Janice

For the fourth of July cake you could do a sheet cake of the American Flag or even some kind of BCT of the flag. And for the going away cake I like Janice's idea of tying in the outline of the United States. I did a cake for someone that was moving to Austalia and I did a round cake and made it look like a globe. Then I had an airplane flying from the USA to Australia and had an arrow going in that direction. I wish I had a picture of this cake....but I don't! Anyway, if I think of anything else I will let you know!

for the going away you can do a cake in the shape of a suitcase and write on it our bags are packed. or you could do the moving box sorry no ideas for the 4th of july cake but will keep thinking

I just had a flash of a large red white and blue airplane with you and hubby and kids all looking out the windows and waving goodbye!

this one is really cute: www.michellecakes.co.uk/ images/60x60/airplane.jpg (there's a neat one here too of luggage, that might be a workable idea.)

The USA map sounds like a good idea maybe add a fondant or candyclay plane on a wire flying in or something...
