Bouquet/rainbow Cake-Wilton Flashback

I did this cake per the person's request... She found this old picture from Wilton's yearbook, don't know what year , and wanted me to make it with pastel colors.
So, here is the end result. Pastels darkened a bit to emphasize the rainbow, flowers made in a way I didn't think about. Using star tip 21 and making petals as if I was making the shell border and then yellow center.
Rose rosetts and bow to finish the touch!
What do you think??? I like it a lot and actually finished it faster than I thought!!
I really do like it!! I would have never thought you could do that with the guitar pan--very creative! And pretty!
When I was reading your description, I was envisioning this horrid cake. But I think this cake is cute! I like that the rainbow isn't "traditional" colors!
Good work!
All of my old Wilton yearbooks (1980s) show how to use their shaped pans for things other than what the pan was meant to be. Most people see a guitar pan and only see a guitar cake come out of it. I thought it looked familiar and I found it in my 1984 Wilton yearbook on page 18. BTW, the year book was $3.50 back then!
I love the colors! What an ingenius idea for a cake pan that seems so limited. Great job!
Thanks!!! I was really happy that I got to use my guitar pan again. Its been a while.
I would like to get some of the older Wilton yearbooks to get ideas like this. You never know what other things you can do with this pans.
Thanks again everyone!
You did a great job I love the colors and the designt but can I be honest here? When I first looked before I read the post I said to myself is that a guitar or it could be a giant baby rattle and I am still undecided if I like it. I dont know maybe its because it is shaped like a guitar but the theme seems totally unrelated to a guitar lol I'm sorry I mean no offense it's just my opinion.
Well, to give you an update, the lady that asked for this cake SCREAMED of happiness when she saw it!!!
She called me an ARTIST!!!
This is the biggest payback for me, to see the customer sooo pleased with the product! Especially children!
I am sooo happy that she liked it!
She was ecstatic!!
Looks real, my sides are smooth but not that smooth. Any suggestions on getting the sides real smooth? thanks

Post what pans you have, if I get a chance, I'll see if I can find something in my old books. Mine date back to 1981. There are a lot of uses for the spaceship pan, rainbow pan, tee shirt pan, etc.
It is a good way to get another use out of a pan you already have; but I have to say, I'd rather draw the picture on a sheetcake.

There is always the Viva papertowel method... have you tried it?
This pan because of the angle of the sides, it was hard to smooth... I had some areas that were not as smooth, but you can't tell on this pic.
