I found the following books today at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, in the Bargain Books section (all prices listed are in US Dollars):

The Essential Guide To Cake Decorating, by Alex Barker. Although it is published in the UK, the techniques taught in this book are highly valuable to cake decorators the world over. I own an older version of this book, and I consider it a must-have for any beginning cake decorator's library. Price: $6.98.

The Art Of Cakes, by Noga Hitron. This book, published by Random House, but definitely written by someone from the UK, touches briefly on techniques and tools, then goes directly into different cake designs, such as Wickedly Wonderful Witch and Paradise of Purses. This book is more advanced than the afore-mentioned book. Price: $5.98

Party Cakes For Kids, by Kathy Knudsen. Although most of the cakes in this book are buttercream-iced, and you can see the palette knife strokes along the surface of most of them, the book does offer some great information on 3-D cakes, which any beginner in cake carving would appreciate. Price: $9.98

Naughty Cakes, by Debbie Brown. I have seen this book sell on eBay for a lot of money. The title is self-explanatory, but the closest you get to full nudity on any of the cake ideas is bare boobs. Price: $7.98.
