Hello ladies~ I'm de-lurking for help. I have been asked to use Funfetti cake mix for one of the layers in a wedding cake. Should I worry about the stability of the cake? It will be the middle tier, but supported by dowels and cake boards. I think it should be okay, but I just can't shake that knowlege of how soft and spongy the cake is.

Thanks in advance

I have used this cake mix many times...A fav of my children and my sister! Whatever amount of oil the mix calls for, I use about or just over half. It seems to be a little more firm.

Okay, cutting oil makes sense. Thank you.
