poured the cream mixture on after cutting? I have had someone ask me if I can make a angel food type cake (i know tres leche isnt angel food, right?) and then serve with strwberries and cream (for pouring) on the side

Sounds to me like they want an angle food cake strawberry short cake. But yes, you do pour the milk mixture on the cake after you've leveled it and it's still in the pan.

I guess it would work - but I think it would soak in better if you did it in the pan. We love the easy recipe!
