I plan on doing a round stacked cake (without a filling) for my daughter's birthday (4", 7", and 10"). I am seeking a cake recipe that is durable enough to be stacked but isn't too dense to be moist and flavorful. I would like to use crusted buttercream (faux fondant) to frost it. Does anyone have a non-white cake recipe that will fit the bill? Thanks in advance!

A mudcake would do what you want. Still i would recommend using boards and supports.
Here is my recipe for dark mucake. Pls note that the actual temperature should be 160 degrees celcius not 180.
