Does anyone have a trick for figuring out where to start writing on a cake? I am having such a hard time knowing where to start, how much to space and then trying to make sure it is straight - makes me want to scream!!

There has got to be an easier way then just eyeballing it - right???

You could write your message on some wax paper, measure it, then use the measurement to determine where to start writing on the cake. At least it would be close.

I am terrible at writing - I think it's one of those "practice makes perfect" things (and I have lots of practicing to do!).

I usually practice a couple of times on wax paper and then sort of eyeball it. However, here's something you could try if you're really having a hard time with it. Make a batch of royal icing, write your message with the royal icing on a piece of wax paper. Allow it to dry and then gently pick it up and place it onto the cake...then you can move it a little bit without any problems!! icon_biggrin.gif
