Okay, with ICES in Omaha just 2 weeks away now, I'm starting to really look forward to it! I'm guessing those who are going, know by now. So, I was wondering who all is going and and few other fun questions.

1. What day or days will you be there?
2. Are you going to the Friday night game night?
3. Are you going to the Saturday morning Biz. owner's breakfast?
4. Are you going to the Saturday night Ball?
5. What are you going to wear to it?
6. Are you going to stay for the Sunday night sharing?
7. How many classes and demos did you sign up for?
8. Did you enter a display piece?

Feel free to add any other info you want to share.

I will be there from Wednesday through Sunday. I'm usually a quiet person, but I forced myself to sign-up for everything I could, since who knows when I will ever have this opportunity again. Unfortunately, I was not able to enter a piece, since this is the middle of wedding season, and I've been so busy.

Anyone else?

>5. What are you going to wear to it?
If my bright pink dress still fits, that. Otherwise, whatever will go with my new silver shoes. princess.gif

>7. How many classes and demos did you sign up for?
I think it was 7 demos and 1 hands on. I picked them months ago and put it away, and I totally forgot what I signed up for! icon_redface.gif

is there going to be some kind of CC / Pink Palace get together? It would be nice to put faces to all these names.

1. What day or days will you be there?
Will arrive Wed and leave Sun evening.

2. Are you going to the Friday night game night?
I paid for it, but I'm not totally sure if I will be there.

3. Are you going to the Saturday morning Biz. owner's breakfast?
No

4. Are you going to the Saturday night Ball?
Nope

6. Are you going to stay for the Sunday night sharing?
No, I'm leaving Sunday after I pick my displays up.

7. How many classes and demos did you sign up for?
8 demos and plan to buy some more when I get there.

8. Did you enter a display piece?
Yes, two. Hopefully I get them done.

My parents are talking my nephew up there for a vacation, so while I am doing convention things during the day they will be sight seeing with him. In return I will have him in the evenings and they will get to gamble. So my evenings were preplanned for me.

About a planned meeting. There is a message board at the convention where you can post messages for other people to see. Someone can pick a time and place and post it and those that want to meet up and can can always show up. icon_smile.gif Also in the past on another cake board I was a part of we had name tags that said the boards name/addy and then her screen names and real names. You never know who is standing behind you in line. icon_wink.gif

There is a few lulls in the ICES schedule where it would be possible. Such as Thursday late afternoon, Sunday early AM, or Sunday late afternoon before the night of sharing begins.

I think I missed something. What is Pink Palace?

SugarCraft.com has a message board. Those from that board do a get together and call it the Pink Palace meeting.

Several little meeting can be planned so that members that want to get to know each other can. If you meet some time before the Friday Breakfast then you can set together at it. If you meet before the banquet (for those that are going) you can sit together.

icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif I've got so much work to do for it, but my only focus this week has been on getting cakes done for 2 tastings (one cancelled today for tomorrow) and a birthday cake..

The finance department (DH) said that I could go, I sent in my registration for the display room... but I have to pay my registration yet for the convention. I'm SO far behind!!! I'm also going for the first time so it makes things a little more difficult because I don't know what to really expect in the slightest.

To answer your questions though...
1) I'm planning on driving down Thursday I believe.. Then driving back on Sunday night.
2) Not sure... I'm a "First Timer"
3) Not sure yet... I'd really like to, but me and mornings just don't mesh well together so the con might outweigh the pro of going...
4) Probably... but... what do I wear to it?????????????? This Cinderella isn't sure! icon_sad.gif
5) Oh I haven't a clue... HELLLLLLLLLLP oh educated ones on the convention... I hate going over or under dressed to events..
6) I might pop in to it, but I'm planning to drive back home so if it appears that it's not going to be worth sticking around once I get there, I'll get on the road.
7) I couldn't see what had openings yet and what didn't (I went to the website and couldn't get to where it lists what still is available). At the rate I'm going I'll be stuck with my only option being the sales floor and display room...
icon_cool.gif Yes... But I've still got to do them yet.. I've got the ideas, just haven't had time to sit down with the gumpaste and get things started.

I'm looking forward to meet everyone!!! I'm sooo excited!! party.gif

1. What day or days will you be there?
Wed thru Sun. Leaving early Mon morning

2. Are you going to the Friday night game night?
Yes! Looking forward to it! thumbs_up.gif

3. Are you going to the Saturday morning Biz. owner's breakfast?
I think I bought a ticket. But I'm not a biz owner so I hope I'm still welcome icon_rolleyes.gif

4. Are you going to the Saturday night Ball?
Heck yea! Wouldn't miss that one!

5. What are you going to wear to it?
A few oldie ICES friends told me that some people wear ball gowns & some wear bluejeans. It's whatever you wanta wear. I'm not wearing a ball gown that's for sure! I'm no princess! LOL! I'm wearing pin striped capri's w/ a cute shirt & sandles. Nothing fancy but not under dressed either~ thumbs_up.gif

6. Are you going to stay for the Sunday night sharing?
I think we are. I hope so!

7. How many classes and demos did you sign up for?
I signed up for 9 but I plan on doing manpower also. Hopefully I will have some time to rest in between!

8. Did you enter a display piece? I missed the deadline! icon_sad.gif I might still bring a cake but I can't qualify for the 2 $500 drawings so I might not bring a cake. There are a lot of other drawings so maybe icon_rolleyes.gif

An extra question..

9. Are you staying at the Hilton? Yes. (This might be the best place to try & get together for all us CCer's.)

10. Where & when to meet everyone? I have no idea. Maybe for the breakfast? Any ideas?

11. Sunday everything goes on sale. All the vendor stuff, so try to stay if you want some extra goodies at a cheap price to take home with you~
thumbs_up.gif

Gosh, can't wait to meet everyone!! Did any of you get in Colette's class? My friend Mac (from CC) did! I didn't icon_sad.gif it was full when I got to register icon_sad.gif Well I still hope to meet her. thumbs_up.gif

My suggestion is to set up a meeting time, or maybe a couple of them on Thrusday. That way while some might not get to meet everyone they will get to meet some and that would make it easier to find each other to sit with at the Breakfast. Usually they have tables for like 10 or so people at the breakfast.

After we get there and see the set up an appointed one can come up with a good, easy to find meeting place at the convention and place a note on the bulliten board. Those that want to meet up can check it out for the infromation of when and where.

Oh, so they have a bulletin board? That's a great idea! thumbs_up.gif Ok... to my understanding of the schedules... Friday no classes start til 1:30 pm. Am I correct? Why couldn't everyone get together for lunch that day? Say about 11:30 am?? That way everyone could be back in time for their classes. I don't have a class till 4pm Friday so I'm up for anything! I think that would be the perfect day for everyone to get together. thumbs_up.gif What do ya'll think? Now where to get together I don't know. So someone make a suggestion~ icon_wink.gif I'm game!!

Okay... let's see... detective.gif

1. What day or days will you be there? Arrive Wed.; Depart Mon. party.gif

2. Are you going to the Friday night game night? Yes, eventually. thumbs_up.gif

3. Are you going to the Saturday morning Biz. owner's breakfast? Nope.

4. Are you going to the Saturday night Ball? Yup! thumbs_up.gif

5. What are you going to wear to it? I have NO idea! I read somewhere that it was a 50's theme? Is that possible, or did I dream that? I didn't see any mention of suggestions on what to wear, though... icon_confused.gif

6. Are you going to stay for the Sunday night sharing? Yup!! It's a lot of fun!! And it makes my departure much less rushed leaving on Monday. icon_cool.gif

7. How many classes and demos did you sign up for? Everything, I think! icon_biggrin.gif Actually, 8 Demos and 2 classes, I think. It was so long ago... I'd better check my list!! icon_surprised.gif

8. Did you enter a display piece? Yes, goodness help me!! Now I just have to finish it... and get it there via airplane... icon_cry.gif THIS should be interesting...

And yes, I am staying at the Hilton. (I think that was added as #9!)

I'd really love it if we could get the CC'rs together at some point this year!! We can try the bulletin board, definitely. Also, if they are doing assigned seats for the banquet again this year, we can see about getting seat tickets as a group for one or more tables... I'd be happy to play "Banquet Seat Ticket Lady" for the CC'rs if we want to try to sit together (if there are assigned seats)... princess.gif

Only one more week!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I 2nd it that Andrea be nominated Banquet Seat Ticket Lady!! judge.gif

TC the breakfast is Friday morning, so I hope we will get to sit together during that. After the breakfast, usually noon-ish, they open the doors to the vender room and the cake display room. Usually after the breakfast everyone goes down to wait at the vender room doors so they can collect all the freebies that the didn't people hand out.

At the moment my first demo on Thurs is at noon I think, but I think there is an earlier one that I want to buy a ticket for if it is still open. I can't find my list of extra demos I want to take at the moment. *looking around wondering what I did with it*

I'll sit down Wed night after I register and do my schedule. I'll also take the coupon booklet and plan which vender booths I want to visit first. HeHe.

That reminds me I need to look over my shopping list and print it out. I'm trying to decide how much money I want to take with me and how much I want to spend.

From ICES.org: Global Sugar Art Gallery We will be offering a Cake Gallery Registration on Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29. For just a $10 fee you may walk through the gallery of over 600 hundred cakes that are being brought from around the world. You also won't want to miss the demonstrations going on in the back of the room. A portion of the proceeds from this registration will go to benefit the Nebraska Humane Society. Tickets are only available on-site.

According to the show schedule it is 9 to 5 on Sat and 10 to 5 on Sunday.

Hello,
I'm an Omahan born and raised and living here! I can't justify going to the actual convention because it costs so much for just a beginner like me, but I am definitally planning on viewing the cakes- which is open to the public. If you guys schedule a gathering outside of the actual event-I'd love to come.
I am also more than welcome to act as a tour guide if needed. I actually cancelled a trip so I'd be in town that weekend because I wanted to see the cakes so much.

Thanks,
Sarah
