What's The Best Non-Custard Cream Filling?

I'm making an eggless cake and need an eggless cream filling - but they don't want it to be too greasy.
I know the recipe for the filling where flour and milk are cooked and then whipped into shortening or butter - but I was curious to see if anyone else had another recipe they like better.
I am looking for something a little more stable - but not just an icing recipe doubling as a filling.
What is your favorite?
