Hi all!
Just wondered what your thoughts are on the best cake recipe to hold up to being sculpted? I know that it'll need to be pretty solid and firm but I don't want to make it too dry so it's not good to eat!
I have never sculpted before and would appreciate any tips on that also! am I right in thinking you just layer with frosting THEN sculpt and frost the outside?!

It was my understanding that you don't torte or fill a carved cake and then you use a sturdy cake recipe - like the one here for 3D cakes.
