I am trying to figure out how to go about making a bunch of hibiscus flowers. But I don't know if I should use fondant or gum paste. Also I've never attempted this type of flower so if anyone has please give me some advice!

Thanks!

If I remember correctly a hibiscus has long... wide, thin petals. You might want to try a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste. The gumpaste dries firmer to hold the shape. But if you aren't a pro on these flowers it might harden a little too fast by itself while you are trying to shape them and I believe fondant alone wouldnt hold the shape well. If I had to do one or the other I would use gumpaste.
