Hi,

I am really quite excited!

On thursday the local council environmental health officer is coming out to have a look at my house kitchen. If everything is OK I will be legal. She said it would just be a quick look as I do not fall into any high risk catagories because I dont handle any high risk food. For anyone whos had this type of visit before I was looking for some tips or advice. I have just been cleaning like a mad woman. One question though, I have a metal dustbin with a lift of lid, will I have to get a foot pedal operated one?

I would advise anyone in the UK to make themeselves legal - it has turned out to be really easy (thanks Emmascakes for the info!) and I only started making tentative calls 2 weeks ago.

Cheers!

Don't worry about your inspection. If they find something they want you to change, they usually just give you a note, and that is the end of it.

Congrats on getting your business up and running! It sounds like its quite straightforward there. I'm also in the process, but they're a little more strict here (in Ireland). I had to do a food hygiene course (still waiting on my exam results!), I must have fly screens on all windows, enclosed coverings on my lights, a seperate fridge for the exclusive use of my cake stuff (with a thermometer that I have to record daily temp readings from), a seperate hand-wash sink, and there's more that I can't think of right now!

Good luck on the inspection, be sure to let us know how it goes!

Kelly
