This is the first cake I've been (mostly) happy with. My first carved cake, Lightning McQueen for my nephew's 3rd bday, only 1 comment.

This is my other favorite...only 1 comment and 3 saves.

And a cute bunny cake I made for Easter, 3 comments.

Of course, none of my cakes have many comments so technically they could all go here!
I posted this pic & it literally flew through the newest cake pics on the home page. I don't think it was there long enough to get any comments!
I would love any comments anyone has to give.
Thanks,
M.Krilla

I thought for sure I would get more comments on this cake then I did. And I thought I would get into the favorites of the day. I sometimes wonder when is the best time to post a picture of a cake. Anyone know? Here's one cake:

Sorry if I am restating something that has already been said here but I really didn't have time to read all of the 395 posts. I am a new Gallery Supporter. I spent a good 2 hours today commenting on 50 gallery photos. In case you want to know I just checked the uncommented photo area and there are 4 pages of uncommented photos. There are 50 per page with the oldest posted on Oct 6 at 8:52 p.m. and the newest posted at 3:51 p.m. today (18 hours approx). After reading several of the posts here I wish I had a solution to the problem of people feeling they have unnoticed cakes. I feel part of the problem is the new format on the home page with only 6 new cakes appearing at any given time. I, myself have posted an image and in a few minutes it is gone. There are few comments anymore just because they cannot be seen I am guessing. I liked the old way of being able to see more at one time but I guess that is what progress does. I wish there was some way to cure this problem.
AlamoSweets- Actually there is a way! If you click on "galleries" and then click on the tab that says "last uploaded" you can see 3596 pages of cakes, in the order that they were uploaded. I always check for new cakes this way, because this is the sure fire way that I am not going to miss anything. That is why I don't really understand why people say "the best time to post a pic" because it shouldn't really matter. If people are looking at the last uploaded list, and then just go through the pages to where they left off last, they will never miss any new cakes!
Yeah, I've noticed a little less activity in the comments/favorites too. I started to wonder if I've just lost my touch but then got to thinking that the CC community is just so much bigger now, that the photos fly through the front page faster than they used to. I still post them so that maybe someone looking for an idea might find what they need through the search one day. =) I might add thanks too, to the Gallery Supporters! You guys are the best!
I'm sort of new to this sight and as much time as I spend here, I should have seen everything by now. It is addicting! When I was looking at a cake the other day I noticed the last uploads tab and went there. I discovered all the new cakes that have recently been posted, so now I go there. I think the only way to get there is after looking at a picture.
There are so many cakes and so little time.... I pretty much stick with wedding photos and trying to get to the others. Looking at the recently posted pictures has been a big help to see new photos. I'd like to see a "go to page #" instead of hitting next. The first day I went through the last uploads pages, I had to stop at page 6 so the next day I went through several more until I came to page 1 of the previous day and tried to jump ahead to page 15 without having to view page by page until I got there.
I tried looking at the uncommented pages to see what I've missed but I guess I can't go there yet.
mpaigew - Actually I did go there and the oldest posted in the "last uploaded" gallery is from 2004. I always go to the oldest one to start posting comments in the uncommented section accessed by the gallery supporters so that people don't feel they are being ignored. I think most of the gallery supporters do the same but it is very hard to keep up with the comments needed in the uncommented section. I just think that people use to comment more on new photos then they do now because more were visible.
Here's a pic of a 3D sailboat cake I did recently that didn't get noticed much. It was a pretty darn big sailboat with the sails being over one foot tall!

But i m hurt a bit, i made a simillar cake not too long ago, barely had favorite (2) and i though it looked cute too!! this is for all my cakes, maybe i think my cakes are nice and i m the only one who sees that?
