AHi everyone, this is the first sculpted cake topper that I've ever done - not quite finished yet but getting there! How do you all do the very fine detail work?

I delivered 'Johnny' yesterday a life size Jack Russel ...i used a metal rod support structure ( inside dowling) and he didn't flinch even over some seriously bumpy roads :))
I have already said on FB however, I will say again, this is incredible, the kind of cakery I aspire to! Even the tiled floor is just perfect!

As a JRT owner I just have to say this is brilliant!!! But I wouldn't want to cut into the little fellow!!!
Well done, amazing work!!!
A<3 thank you soo much for your kind words! Who are you on fb? ( sorry but I am still trying to understand how cake central works ;)
AHOW COULD ANYONE CUT INTO THIS GUY? My god, you guys are all amazing.
Estrele- did someone give you artwork for that? Or did the client say "I'd like a dog playing upright bass?"
AI have only done a few sculpted cakes- making that first cut is the hardest part-- ha!!! There is a description- hints etc under each cake in the gallery- the Homer cake came out better than expected AND-- I happen to be out in the City with the Executive Producer of The Simpsons the night before that cake was delivered--- she wanted to send pics to the creator and illustrator of the show!!! I hope she didnt-- ha!!!!

A little bit of carving- gumpaste disc- black fondant. I tried to replicate my white xbox (posted in my gallery) but... Ha. I made this cake after viewing the how-to video from My Cake School- thanks Mellissa. Cakes are 8 in yellow and fries (lightly toasted) and a 9 in chocolate for burger- buttercream frosting with modeling chocolate condiments. I dry dusted the shading as I do not own an airbrush (yet)- probably would have looked better with an airbrush- the lettuce was much greener in person- not sure why it has a blue tone in pics- I also made ice cream cone cupcakes that were a disaster by the time I arrived at the party- they kept tipping over- ugh!"]http://cakecentral.com/content/type/61/id/2360908/width/350/height/700[/IMG]

Remember I retired over 8 yrs ago so I'm not into the newest, most creative sculpting.
AHere's a cannon from a couple of weeks ago, and a link to a gory one, Gus from Breaking Bad with his face blown off. Don't click it if you don't like bloody gore. My 1st 3-d cake. It was definitely a learning experience but I had so much fun!
AOMG these are all so amazing! I've not done a huge amount of sculpting, but I was really pleased with this doggy one I did last year! (Excuse the rolling pin behind him, it was the only photo I managed to get!) His nose was my favourite part, made of chocolate paste!
