Ladybug---
I tried folding the side pieces at first, but they wouldn't stay where I thought they should
so, then I just cut them into flat pieces, which made them oh so much easier to paint than the hatbox, because i could paint them while they were laying down flat--then just piped royal icing to glue them together around the cake, wiped off where it squished to the front, touched up the food coloring on the seams
the tissue paper needed to be done after the bag was standing, otherwise it didn't look like it went with the bag--took some propping and holding in place while it dried though--same as the cat hatbox
I'm really pleased with the way the food coloring works as a medium on the fondant----not so well on gumpaste
This is my very 1st 3-D cake--it was challenging but very rewarding--I hope to do more in the future- I'm proud of my baby and my friend reported that it tasted great too !

WOW WOW WOW !!!! I would love to save all of these cakes but my computer would run out of memory lol they are all awsome. I did a cowboy hat that turned out fantastic unfortunatley I forgot my camera, I dont know if this one qualifies as 3d or not but it was my first stacked cake, using dowels as well as my first fondant figures and my first time carving a cake. I was very proud of this one and everyone loved it of course it's not even remotely close to being good compared to what I've just seen lol but here goes.

You dont have to save to your computer, just save here as a favorite, it shouldnt take up computer memory...right?

Well, you guys are so amazing that I can hardly believe I'm even posting my one try at a 3D cake.
I made these for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. They are a bowl of rising dough, an unbaked challah mid shaping, and a baked challah. The baked challah was actually baked in a silicone mold, so I can't take credit for the shaping of it.
I keep hoping to try some other 3D cakes, but wow, you guys are so good at this, sometimes it's intimidating!
