What filling would be good with this?? Please help!

I've made a rich devils food cake and white chocolate frosting (used the Cake Doctor's recipes).

What kind of filling would be good? Seems like frosting will be too rich. I often use raspberry preserves, but I'd like another idea.

When I read the descriptions with the photos everyone seems to describe such delectable cakes. I've just learned to enjoy the decorating but have never been much of a baker, so I don't have a stable of recipes to fall back on.

I really need your ideas!

Thanks - Newbie

Maybe a pudding filling? That sounds good to me. Or a whip cream filling. Since the cake is rich I would use something lighter.

I'm like you, I like the decorating but I'm not so great on baking. I do use the same yellow cake recipe. I would like to find the perfect choco & white cake recipe. I'm always too busy w/ cake orders I don't have time to try new recipes.

Good luck w/ this cake~

The first thing I thought of was a pudding filling too, they tend to be less sweet than some other alternatives. Or, I've done a whipped cream mixed with cream cheese filling that is nice and not too sweet.

Sounds like its going to be great!

The filling I use the most is the jell-o instant pudding. Since you have white chocolate frosting, you could try the white chocolate pudding. It is so quick & easy, and it tastes delicious with the cake.

with devil's food cake and white chocolate frosting, i would definitely go with something light and not too sweet. chocolate mousse or whipped cream (you can sift in some cocoa to make it chocolate). a thin layer of raspberry or strawberry jam under the mousse or cream would be very nice.

DebSueWoo - what is chocolate bavarian?

Well, it's the chocolate version of Bavarian Filling, which is kind of like a pudding, but not as sweet to me.

whip yourself up some whipped cream (or whipped topping) with a little extra vanilla flavour, and fold in some prepared chocolate pudding. voila: chocolate bavarian.
