FYI - Michaels has a 50% off coupon for this Sunday & Monday (Labor Day) only! In the same ad is also their regular 40% off coupon for Tuesday - Saturday.

Is the ad in the newspaper or on-line? I don't see one on their website.

Mine came in a little weekly newspaper yesterday, I don't get a "real" newspaper so I don't know if they usually come in the Sunday papers or not. It was in their regular flyer that they have posted in the front of the store.

I went to Michaels today and they told me they don't have an "in-store" coupon or ad. She told me that there is in fact a sale on Sunday and Monday but here (in Colorado) the coupon will be in this Sunday's paper. Alrighty then !!

Can you tell me what the coupon says exactly? Is it for any item in the store or what specifically can we buy??

Michaels coupons come in their ad in the Sunday paper.

Their 40% off and 50% off coupons are good for one regular price item. So you can not use them for anything that is on sale. Occasionally you can use them on clearance items, but on if the item rings up as regular price instead of a promo price.

Michael's won't allow you to print a coupon from the internet but Hobby Lobby does. Do any of you know the reason why?

I don't have it in front of me, but I think it was 50% off any one regular priced item.

In reference to my last post, just thought I'd put HELP in the subject line, too.

Also, if I want a post to reappear in the forum subjects, how do I do that? Do I just need to type BUMP in the text of the message????

Thanks

Don't know how it works in the U.S but here in Canada if we don't have a coupon we can just go in and give them our name and postal code and they give you the coupon discount

Wow, that's a good deal. We can't do that here in the US (that I'm aware of).

I'm half tempted to go to Michaels without the coupon and tell them that I think they should honor it anyway, since I bought TWO Sunday papers and couldn't find the coupon in either paper. LOL. They're the ones who told me there would be a coupon today. It's driving me crazy that I can't find it !!!

There is a Michaels ad in the Denver Post, however I think if you buy it from a stand they do not put ad's in those papers.

They might let you ask for the discount, I know the Aurora Michaels doesn't (I've tried) but the Michaels on Colorado Blvd & (Florida?) will.

Good Luck

I bought the two papers inside the store at Walgreens. All the other ads were in the paper (Best Buy, KMart, etc). Can you please tell me if the Michaels ad is in color or black and white.....is it a totally separate ad like the other ads or is it hidden somewhere in the paper just on one of the pages??? Thanks.

Well, I know mine is hidden....it is very thin -sometimes I have to go through the big Sunday paper 2 times to find it. The ads I get are in color. THe Michaels down here, South Miami, Fl, will take other store coupons (Joann Fabrics ....etc) during a week when they don't issue there own.
Hope this helps. icon_smile.gif

Thanks, cheftaz, it works in Victoria B.C., too! I had no idea. I thought I was out of luck because we don't get the Times-Colonist Home Edition, which is the only place the coupons are.

I just asked and gave them my postal code, and I got 50% off! I'll be doing that again. Canadian prices at Michaels are 30-40% higher than the U.S. even though the exchange rate is nowhere near that any more (pet peeve).

Cheers, from

Thanks for the advice. I still haven't found them. Hope that someone in the Denver area has found the coupon and can help. I'll take the papers home from work tonight and search some more icon_cry.gif If I can't find it I may just use the Hobby Lobby coupon for 40% off. Sigh.

Here in Nevada when you get a paper fromt he stand or store the ads are not available but have home dielivery you get the ads. Guess to stop use from buying more papers to get the coupons. Do what I do just ask friends and neighbors.

Well, the Michaels saga has hopefully ended. LOL. I stopped at Michaels after work today and told them I couldn't find the ad in the paper and asked them to show me what it looks like. It was a full page color ad so I KNOW that it wasn't in either paper I bought. I told the clerk of my dilemma and how I had purchased two Sunday papers with no coupon and she told me to just go get what I wanted and they would give me the 50% off. Yay! So, I got my professional turntable for $30 instead of $60. I'm really happy now! icon_smile.gif

I think you're right on with the ads not being in store bought papers. I stopped at the grocery story (King Soopers) on my way home from work and looked in six newspapers for a coupon and couldn't find one in any of them. Now I know. I think I will start asking friends for them next time. Thanks for all your responses! I can't wait to try the new turntable.

We have the opposite situation here. I don't get the Michael's ad in my home delivered paper. I guess there just aren't enough people in my zip code that shop there. So i'll go over to the grocery store and get the ad out of one of the papers. I go to the customer service desk and just ask the girl if its ok for me to take one ad from the paper. I've never been denied. icon_smile.gif

Hi all. Here in the Fredericksburg, VA Michaels where I shop, if you don't have a coupon they will still honor the discount but they usually want your signature and the reason you don't have a coupon. They will even honor the discount if you've forgotten to bring your coupon which is a big help. thumbs_up.gif

My Michael's in VA and MD will let you use the zip code. Also, I get 40% off each product. I just tell them that I will just keep going out and coming back in so they might as well give me the discounts all at once and they do thumbs_up.gif .

Also, if you do not have a Michael's in your area, which I don't (closest one is 1 1/2 hours from me) then you will not find the coupons in the paper. This is what one Michael's manager told me when I asked about the coupons not being in the paper that I brought.

This is one thing about Michael's coupons that I get so irritated about -I don't hold Michael's directly responsible, but I can't begin to count how many times -both news stand and home delivery- when we would not receive coupons. Our area is generally very good about placing coupons in both news stand papers and home delivered papers.
I use to think it was a general oversight that perhaps they were mistakenly left out, but considering how often it happens I am beginning to think that there are just people who are thieves and will pillage through (news stand) papers to find additional coupons, which leaves other customers without their coupons

I'm surprised that your local michael's store would permit you to receive the 40% off each item, especially if they are following procedure (they are required to take your name and your zip code). I know that would never be allowed at our local Michael's -simply b/c most consumers only have 1 - 40% off coupon unless the consumer is the type to pay for multiple newspapers just to obtain the coupons -or has received the extra coupons from family/friends. Not to mention they limit coupon usage to 1 per customer, per day.

Thanks Raisen for your post icon_biggrin.gif , i am also in south miami, fl and was not aware that they would take the competitors coupons, where did you try this at the one in dadeland or flagler???

Also about the coupons in the newspaper:

first Michaels does not issue out a sales flyer on a weekly basis, so you never know if your going to get it or not when you buy the newspaper, but if you sign-up at their website for the sales flyer, if you get it in your email on sunday (the email does not contain the 50% off regular products, only the one for framing) you know it will be in the newspaper that day.

in my area, on holiday weekends (except for the known shopping weekends, like labor day icon_smile.gif) the newpaper does not include any coupons, so don't buy the newspaper for that purpose on those sundays.

I guess it varies. I bought a paper from Wal Mart and it had an add with coupon in it. I've never had a problem finding coupons for holidays in store bought papers.

Karmicflower,
Hi,
I usually go to the store on Kendall and 117th- close to work. But occasionally go to the one on US1 and Kendall. I've noticed the same thing during Holiday weekends...thats when I use Joanns coupon.
THanks...P.S. I love your cakes!!!
