Well I found out how much my son loves cake. I had my cakes all baked and in the fridge waiting for the icing which I was going to do today. (This was last night) My son wakes me up this morning and says "Mommy I have some cake?" Now I took this as he wanted a piece (he knew I was baking last night) I went downstairs with him to see my 6 inch cake almost gone and my 10 inch cake half gone and the rest was unsalvagable even for cake balls. Apparently he had sneaked downstairs very early this morning (this was 6 am when he woke me up) and helped himself to the cake in the fridge. These happened to be my cakes for my final course 3 cake tonight. Well after the initial shock I burst out laughing and said "well I guess Mommy needs to get a fridge lock" True I had to quickly bake new cakes (2 layers each of 6 inch and 10 inch) but it gave me a good laugh this morning. The funny thing is he isn't even sick. i would have thought he would have been sick from eating so much cake but he feels fine. Didn't eat a lot the rest of the day but I can't blame him there.

Too funny! LOL! I don't think he'll be hungry for the next week! Can't say that I have a kid that would do that, but if my mom was in the kitchen left alone with the cake, I might start to worry (haha).

He poked at a cake once...my little boy it was not funny at all. I now store my cakes in my fridge in the garage or in the microwave, mine is on top of the stove, I think he has learned though I left him alone with a cake and told him not to touch Mommy's cake and he said "Ok Mommy" I trust him now he really won't touch them anymore. I still don't leave him alone with a cake for a long time a few minutes yes. Love my little boy

Oh my goodness that reminds me of when my oldest was little! He used to be an early bird. He was still pretty young when he figured out that if he was really quiet in the morning he could get into a lot before I would wake up. He never quite ate that much cake but he sure tried!

Ah, yes, I remember those days! My kids are 14, 15, and 16, so they know they better not touch anything except thecake scraps, but how I miss the days when they were little like yours! Fingers in the finished cake and all!

Only the baby (she's 2) does it because she really doesn't get the whole 'it's not for us' concept. I had made a little 6 inch belly cake and cut out the belly and boobies from a single 6inch layer. Well when I came back to the counter.......part of the belly was missing and one of the boobies were gone too. It was so funny........normally I would be upset but this one brought me to tears in laughter.

Oh yes. My boys sit and wait when I am making icing so they can have some. I have learned to put the cake out of reach or they will help themselves to that too! I have not had one cake yet that I haven't had to "fix" before it was picked up. I made a cake this last weekend and planned on finishing it in the morning. My husband woke me up and asked if I had counted the cupcakes yet. He didn't ask if I needed them, just if I had counted them!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am LMAO right now because that sounds exactly like my two-year-old. Anytime he sees anything that remotely resembles cake he says "Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!!!" I have to pull all nighters, too, and now I think I will also be getting a lock for the fridge!

I guess I am not alone--my 2 1/2 year old, Ella, always replies to the question as follows...

"What do you want for lunch/dinner, honey?"

(Little high pitched girl voice...) Mmmmmmm.... cake??? Then I say no, and laugh, and then sometimes she will say, "Fossin?" (Frosting)

Among my friends and family it's actually turned into a game of "Who can Find the Child Destruction" the fastest. I think every cake I've sent out of here has had some "imprint" that my child(ren) left on it that I've had to fix icon_eek.gif I'm hoping they grow out of it but I'm not betting on it (especially since I haven't icon_wink.gif )

Zamirah is my daughter!!!! that now everytime that im on the kitchen she thinks im baking cakes and grabs a bowl for tata, tata is her nanny!!!! Men i tought that because we live in USA and her both grandmas live in Puerto Rico things were going to be easier, well they arent her grandma is her adopted grandma...And she knows how to do her job really good!!!!!jajajajajja im enjoying this moments so much!!!!!

I was at my sister's place for a tupperware party & she makes cakes too - she had a car bday cake ready for pickup the next am ( stupidly had it on a low table ) & before you can say " I wouldn't leave that there ", 2 headlights are missing & there's a little hole where the license plate goes !!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

That so funny my brother did that to my mum once , she had made a nice strawberry desert when she was finished she refrigerated it and went to bed (she had a big party the net day.) So my brother eat it all apart from a tiny little spoonful that he put back in the refrigerator, my mother wasnt very happy when she woke up in the morning but it's a funny story that we tell today...

My one daughter has done it too me a couple of times, but most of the time they were fixable. But one time I made a cake for my sister's baby shower and I had just finished it about 2 hours before the shower. I had to get ready to go so I went and got it the shower. As I opened the shower curtain, I was greeted by a frosted, cake-crumbed face. I ran downstairs and the cake was just destroyed! But out of four kids, she's the only one I ever had a problem with. So I guess that's not too bad!?!

Peyton is the cake monster! As soon as he sees the pans coming out of the cupboard he runs in "CAKKKEEEE!" Just like the pp if you ask him what he wants to eat cake or candy is always the first choice. This weekend he managed to get a big handfull of cake by shoving a stool up against the counter before I could get to him. Stinker.

Don't you love kids. true I had to make two rush cakes but it was the funniest this he had done this week so far. And his answer to why he ate it, "because it's cake Mommy and I like cake" My daughters don't get into the cakes that much but I am sure that if I give them time they will be. After all they are only 2 and 1. My son is 3.

My daughter did the same thing to me once. I was up until 1am finishing a cake for my son's Halloween preschool party. At 5:30am, my 2 yo daughter woke me up saying, "I'm messy...cake!" Sure enough, she had gotten into the fridge and taken a nice big hunk out of my black & purple spider cake. Messy was right!!! Fortunately, I had some cake scraps that I used to repair the cake. I had to slice of the entire back of the cake (anything she might have touched), rebuild the cake, make more icing & re-ice the cake. I managed to do it, but it was a very hectic morning!

Now I always put my cakes on the top shelf of the fridge or on an out-of-reach countertop! icon_wink.gif

I tried to make Scooby-doo out of gumpaste three times and no matter how high I put it, it never made it to the finished product because of my two year old would eat his head off!
Then my three year old has to be right there rolling out "playdoh" as she calls it and making figures with me. When she is done the two year old usually eats it!! Then Im peeling them off the ceiling!

Ok...so all of you have wee little ones...that's almost a given that little ones will do that, they just don't understand yet....but what to do when your 17 yr old....yeah....that's right....17 eats all your royal icing flowers that you spent hours upon hours making (yes, it was for my last class in course 2). I checked my box to do "inventory" and they were all gone....well, ok...he did leave the wax paper squares!

ps.
Guess who learned how to make royal icing apple blossoms????????

I don't have babies to eat the cakes, my problem is with the fondant figures and stuff I have out drying. For some reason everytime somebody passes by my work table they feel compeled to pick up whatever I am working on. The baby I made for a shower cake had to have had brain damage cause his head must have fallen off a dozen times. And I gave up on the stem for my jalepeno cause they kept trying to pick it up and pulling the stem off.

My little man loves icing and MMF. I always have to make some space for him to roll out and make something when I use MMF. When I icing I always squirt a line of icing on his finger so he can have a taste.....he usually comes back for more about 50 times before I'm done, but I can usually distract him into doing something else most of the time.
