Any ideas for a cake to celebrate a divorce being finalized? I am stumped. I have lots of black icing left from a cake I did the other day if any of you have an ideas how to tie that in.

You could use the ball pan from Wilton and do a "ball and chain cake". Make the chain and cuff from fondant and leave the cuff open. Then write "Free at last" in front of the ball. I hope I explained that well enough.

Thats scary that someone even wants to celebrate their divorce. Happy Divorce? Sorry no ideas for that but alot of prayer for all involved.

There is a cake I did recently that was from Creative Celebration Cakes. I'll post it in my photos. It was for a graduation party and was a "gateway" to a new chapter in his life.

Depending on the person that you are doing it for, these may or may not be approprate things for the comment on the cake. If these offend anyone, I apologize in advance.

I'm not sure that the black icing will look like a celebration, but to use it the ball and chain sounds good!

Believe me, if you've decided on a divorce and have been through the hassle, you are ready to celebrate when it is finally finished!

Maybe you could do a certificate to look like a divorce decree, put that in the center and have balloons and fireworks around the edges.

I see ads for party plates and napkins, if you were going to use those maybe you could get a theme for the cake from that! Janice

My hair dresser did a divorce cake!! He said it was a small, messy greyish wedding cake and they cut it right in half and left the knife between the 2 pieces...symbolic I guess!!

You could make a small wedding cake "black" and have the bride and groom at the top but have the bride pushing the groom into the cake. lol this is so funny

You could cut a sheet cake in the shape of a shampoo bottle and make the "lable" say wash that man right otta my hair! hahaha

I did one that looked similar to a small stacked wedding cake. I used a standard bride and groom topper and just cut the head off of the groom. I got the idea from a local supply store who had done the same thing to bride and groom bubbles. They called them divorce bubbles. It was a big hit.

My friend threw a DP (divorce party/dom perignon). The theme was his divorce was final and he was serving dom perignon champange. Don't know if that idea helps......... but I like the ball and chain one.

A friend of mine is having a divorce party soon for her husband's best friend. I am going to do a sheet cake with a crooked house on top and two legs with ruby slippers sticking out of the bottom of the house. "Ding Dong the witch is dead" like from the Wizard of Oz. This should be a fun cake to make. I can't wait!

Ok.. so this divorce party is scheduled for the 20th of August. I am doing the house cake with the legs sticking out from underneath. If I use the Wilton standing house pan.. how should I support it?? I dont want the darn thing falling over and I think that my friend who is hosting the party will be the one transporting it to her shore house which is about 40 miles from me.

I really wish I could help!!! This sounds like a marvelous cake, It seems like if you could leave it unaassembled until it got there, and then stack it with some dowels for support, that might work. Will you be going to this event? I know you had said that she is transporting it. I just don't know.

Well, I am not sure either but the first things that come to mind are dowel supports and a large base border ~ like landscaping for the house. Grass, flowers, etc for extra support for the base and to widen the base for balance. Does that make sense?

And while I was typing that there are also those rock candies that could be used to look like edging or flower containers or a pathway. Just brainstorming.......

Hope someone out there has better advice.
