I'm from Delaware. I'm still trying to find out about licensing. So far, I found out that the the dept of Agriculture does allow you to bake from your home, you don't need a separate kitchen. I haven't been able to find out anything about licensing though.

I get my decorating supplies locally from Michaels or A.C. Moore (always with a coupon for either place) or on this website. How about you, where have you found cake stuff??

I'm from Southern DE, in the Milford area. Although I am not planning on ever selling cakes, just out of curiosity I made some phone calls to find out what you have to do to become licensed. I had heard that the Dept. of Ag did allow you to bake from home, so I called them first. That office told me that because I did not live on a farm, I had to call the Dept. of Public Health. That office told me if I wanted to bake & sell from home, I would need a seperate kitchen. This could be a converted garage or completely seperate building. I asked why if I lived on a farm, could I bake from my home kitchen but not if I didn't live on a farm. He said that farmers can do that BUT they can only sell at farmers markets/roadside stands, etc. and not as a "normal" business. He have me a website with all the regulations, I have it written down somewhere and will post it when I find it.

Well, I couldn't find the website link, but I did find the number of the office you need to call. It's the Dept of Public Health - 744-4700. The man I talked to is Bob Hofner. He gave me the link to the website that lists all the regulations one would need to meet to bake from home, and offered to send me a hard copy in the mail if I needed it.

I also shop at Michaels and AC Moore with coupons thumbs_up.gif
