Okay, I had my grandparent's 50th anniversary cake all planned out. I was gonna do a hexagon stacked cake with edible images on each side of the cake from throughout the years. INCOMING MONKEY WRENCH!!!!!! icon_cry.gif We are guesstimating an attendance of 125-150.

My uncle and mom have decided to change the party from fancy to fun. The theme of the party is now "What happens when a New York Italian meets a tall, Irish Texan? 50 years later, we celebrate!" We are going to have 2 seperate rooms; one a NY nightclub and the other basically a hoe-down (sp?) They want me to make a cake to fit this theme. I have some ideas, but I wanted to get some others, as well as an opinion.

I am thinking a 11x15 sheet cake of the texas flag, and then I have a texas shape pan (serves 6-icon_cool.gif that I was going to put on top - not sure what decoration on it though. For the italian, I was thinking Italian Flag placemat (same sheet cake pan) with a plate of spaghetti on it. Because I don't think this will be enough cake, I was still thinking about doing at least 2 of the tiers with the pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Open to any suggestions. Thanks!!

What if you did a tiered cake and kindof split it down the middle Making one side texas stuff, like cowboy hats rope border, perhaps some hay or a bandana or two. I would place some wild flowers on this side.

The other side playing off of the NY nightclub theme, place a wine bottle a couple of glasses, maybe some roses. And a smiple bead border.

You could maybe place an outline of each state on each side.

I like the Texas pan idea. You could stack it on top of a 16 inch square or round. Then you could do another sheet cake with the pictures on it. In the italian room you could do the flag and spaghetti with another sheet cake with pictures. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

I was thinking the same thing as peg818! That would make it match both sides of the family. And to me, that also would match the fun theme that your mom and uncle are going for!

peg818's idea is awesome... You could also do a stacked or whimsical type cake alternating layers between NY and TX???
