The cake is for my daughter's 11th birthday party. Her party will be held at a place called Enchanted Castle where they have arcade games, mini golf, Laser Tag and Bumper Cars. I'm trying think of some cake ideas. I'm still pretty new to decorating so I would need something simple yet really cool because the parents of the children may be there and it might strike up some orders. I was originally thinking of doing a castle but I wanted to see what others thought. Thanks!

doug - you always have great ideas!

if you decide not to do a castle, how about aminiature golf course?

My daughter just turned 10 and the ocean/hula theme seems to be real big with this age group right now. I have a hula cake in my photos that I did for another 10 yr old girl. I got the idea off the wilton sight.

I had a customer recently who wanted a castle and all the bells and whistles, but didn't need a lot of cake nor did she want to pay (a reasonable amount) for a 3D cake. I came up with a 2D castle (posted in my photos as Jia's castle) that was simple to cut from fondant and lay on the cake with some other little elements that aren't difficult, but really add to the overall look of the cake.

If you do the castle cake, you can make the dragon and wizard that they have in Enchanted Castle flanking the sides of the cake.

How about a tiered cake with chocolate transfers of castles and bumper cars and golf clubs and bags and arcade games. Or better yet, a castle cake with those transfers around it? Your cake itself could be very simple in its design since the chocolate transfers would be getting all of the attention anyway.

I made a pillow cake for my 10 yr old niece with a tiara on top of the pillow. You might try something like that. It was really easy and looks super difficult. All the little girls squealed over it.

I just did an outfit for an American Girl theme, you could do a fav dress/outfit or purse she likes. Maybe even what she will be wearing that day.

I say go for the castle. It will be time consuming but you ll impress everyone there and get a spark on some orders!! I know enchanted castle....I live in Brookfield (by the zoo!!) What if you did a sheet cake and made the tokens they use there on top?? Do they still use the tokens?? just a thought!!

If you have to travel with it, I would go with something durable....I'm too new to try to travel with anything too fancy (like a castle). I would go for a bumper car, with the long antenna thing coming out the back. You could maybe make her out of gumpaste or fondant and have her driving it?

It could be a girly car, if she is into pink with hearts and stuff. OR, maybe skeeball. Do they have that there? That could have a sheet cake base with fondant coincentric circles for the target....that would be kinda cute. My kids love that game. Just my suggestions. icon_smile.gif
