You can ado the basic 1/2 shortening, 1/2 butter recipe substituting more Crisco for the butter and adding 1 tsp of butter flavoring.

I use just crisco shortening, confectioners sugar, water and clear vanilla or almond flavoring. Wilton makes a white additive that will help to lighten any color that you may have darkened too much.. I would think if you wanted it really really white, you could add this stuff to it and it would make it even whiter. I've used it and it adds no taste to the icing that I noticed.

Hi everyone!icon_smile.gif I need a littl help with a graduation cake. Wilton no longer makes the graduate cake pan so I bought the little hero pan. My question is now what do I do with it? icon_cry.gif I just can not seem to transform it in my head into a little graduate. Oh I guess I should add that I will be making two of them for twins graduating from 8th grade boy and girl. I am doing it for my brother in laws niece and nephew. Free of charge but I am still very nervous about the whole thing and what them to come out really good. Any ideas on making a little hero graduate? Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

I use the Wilton !/2 and !/2 recipe but instead of crisco and butter, I use Crisco and White Margarine with clear vanilla or Almond or Coconut Flavoring. This makes a very white icing and it is not as sweet as with butter, I have found it to go over very well.

Freddie, what is White margarine? I don't think I've heard of this before. Is there a particular brand of margarine that is white?
