But I have lurked for a loooong time. lol I'm Mandy and just attempted my first 'for real' decorated cake for my youngest daughter's 1st birthday. It was only ok but at least I tried. lol I would post a pic but I have see so many amazing cakes here that I would be way too icon_redface.gif to share. LOL

Anyway, I also have a question... My oldest dd is turning 3 on June 26 and I am wanting to have a tea party themed party and make a teapot for the cake. Any ideas of how the easiest way to go about it for someone like me who is very limited in the talent department? LOL TIA! I'm going to go drool over the cakes in the gallery now. ROFL

First, let me say welcome!! and no cakes are bad on here .. we learn by posting our pics; asking for ideas or areas that need improvement .. I know, I for one, am always open for constructive critism ... but mostly, we're very supportive of each other on here sheepishmagoo...

now as far as the teacup, here is a link someone post previously on here for a link to Wilton's website for a teapot, cups, tea party type cake http://www.wilton.com/recipes/recipesandprojects/bday/tea.cfm

again, welcome aboard!!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I have to be honest. I've been obsessed with cake decorating for a long long time. I just never had the opportunity to get my hands on some supplies and a cake. LOL How did you all get started? I swear I could sit her and pick your brains all day about this stuff but I'm sure you get newbies coming in asking you ???'s all day long. LOL I'd love to one day open a bakery but I really and truly don't know the first thing about this stuff.

Here's the cake I made for my DD's first birthday. It's in the shape of the number 1. My friend who DOES do cakes told me about striping the bag (???) she said it was easy but I beg to differ. She told me over the phone and that it would be so pretty! Well, luckily for her, it only showed up on the bottom of the cake, so she's still alive. ROFL Just kidding! icon_wink.gif

Hello- and welcome. we are always happy to have newcomers. as others have said we all began somewhere. I have never made a teapot however I made teacups out of a waffle bowl (for ice cream) dipped in in choc (white choc with royal icing flowers and vines to make it look like a china pattern and for the saucer I used just the round cookies. The archway sugar do well. something just a little larger and dipped those and did the same pattern around the edge. Good Luck!!! You'll do geat. everyone on here is incredible. icon_smile.gifthumbs_up.gif
