this area i have noticed is for venting...... so its the perfect place for me!!! i decided i was going to try making a homemade chocolate cake and icing for my hubby and my dad on fathers day... i thought no big deal i can do this. i got the recipes from here. ( it tasted wonderful!) anyhow i baked the cakes the night before i got up the next day started my icing everything is going well.. i finally put the bottom cake on the platter fill it and put the top layer on now i decide to ice the sides.. well the cake is just crumbling and i mean not little crumbles HUGE ones!! i figure ok i can fix this lol... add more icing seems like the more i added the worse it got! i swear it was the ugliest cake i have ever seen in my life! i do have to say though the cake was wonderful... nice rich and fudgy. i am sooo glad everyone cared more about the taste lol. thank you for letting me vent. i have never had a cake that did that before.. icon_cry.gif

I feel for you, I certainly have had my fair share of disasters. Hopefully there is something we can learn from each one. The important thing is that the cake tasted great, because once any cake is cut, that is what's important!!!

Yup, i have those disasters frequently. Taste is important and i'm sure your family didn't care.

I'm sure that your family was more pleased with the fact that your time, effort, and love went in to the cake than anything. It tasted good, and that's what they are going to remember. Keep your head up!!
