Any other Ohio bakers out there? - Page 7

Hello all, I'm originally from Ohio ...Tiltonsville to be exact. It's between Steubenville, OH and Wheeling, WV...right along the river. Lived there for 32 years and visit at least 4 times a year. I'm in WA state now and wishing wishing wishing that the guidelines for becoming legal were as easy here as they are there....UGH...for now I'm staying "under the radar" because I swear...I'm not telling anyone...not even the health dept. what color underwear I'm wearing today....it's that ridiculous!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I bake mainly for fun/family so I have no idea about licensing, but I AM from Columbus.

Hello Fellow Buckeyes!! I am in Marietta, Ohio. I started out as a "Cottage Food" Business and recently (3 weeks ago) started a bakery downtown. It has been keeping very busy and I dont have as much time to spend on the computer as I want. I am all for a cake club!! Keep me posted on what everyone decides.

Hey everyone,

I am in Brunswick, Ohio just north of Medina and south of Cleveland. I just posted on the Cleveland cake clubs and events to let everyone know of a class I am trying to get going on gumpaste flowers. I would also like to start up a cake club too. I have a small home business here and I teach the Wilton classes at the Hobby Lobby in Medina. I joined ICES a few months ago and went to the Mid-Michigan sugar art classes a few weeks ago. I plan on going to the DOS in a couple of weeks and would love to meet up with you.

Does anyone know if I need to bring anything to the DOS? I've never been before and would like to know if I need to bring anything. Thanks!

OK, so I finally read through 7 pages to get here.... icon_surprised.gif
I am from Wapakoneta, Ohio -- home of Neal Armstrong!

What is involved in joining a cake club?? How would I find the time???? I'm sooooooo busy baking and decorating!

Also, what are the advantages to becoming licensed? I do it for extra cash and as a hobby. I'd hate to "have" to do it. I am licenced to sell wedding invitations and I get a lot of cake orders from that. But I have yet to find where I can buy wholesale food or boxes etc using my tax ID number.

Anyone know?

Sunlover00---I can't believe there's someone from CC so close to me! I used to work at the YMCA in Wapak, so I'm pretty familiar with it. I went to your site, and your cakes are beautiful!! Wouldn't it be great if there were a cake club here? Let me know if you find one! icon_lol.gif

kelleykakes:

I was at the HL in Medina for the 50% Wilton sale a couple of weeks ago. It is about 50 minutes away from me.

I work in Brecksville and many of the people I work with live in Medina. One of they has an antique store (Accents') on the square.

Hi everyone,

We now have so many people interested in the gumpaste class that we have to move to a larger location. It will probably be in Westlake, OH. Please let me know if that is ok for you.
