Has anyone done a cake in the shape of a sneaker? (3-D) I see lots of cakes of ladies shoes, but no sneakers...

Thanks!

These are for roller skates, but if you wanted to do high top sneakers, you could just do it without the wheels and maybe a little shorter

If you just do a search for "sneakers" you will see sneaker cakes, maybe you could pm someone that did one...

I did a soccer cleat which is kinda similar. It was a kid size shoe so I used a loaf pan to bake the cake and then I sat the real cleat in front of me and just followed the general shape with a knife. It was pretty easy. For the laces I used a clay gun and I poked the show with the end of a paintbrush to make it look like the lace actually went through the leather. I also used a stitching wheel to give it some detail. HTH

I have one in my gallery and actually have another one to post that I did this past weekend. I happy to help, but I know your work and I don't think you'd have any problems pulling off a shoe/sneaker. Mine were both done following pictures of the person's actual shoes.

Good Luck!

Thanks! The carving part doesn't look TOO bad, but the shoe laces is what gets me. Any ideas?

For my laces I used the cobblestone impression mat, cut thin strips and attached. Pinched the very ends to resemble the plastic wrap they have on them. When I draped down the side of the shoe, I stuffed some papertowel under it to help hold it out from the shoe to dry.

Is that what you were lookin' for?
