Does anyone have the recipe for the Chocolate Chip cookies they sold at the Nut Tree in Vacaville, Ca......I would drive there just for those cookies and since they closed, I can't find any recipe that even resembles that cookie. They were huge chocolate chip cookies with macadamia nuts in them and they were thin and crispy like a lace cookie. They have a Nut Tree cookbook, but I can't find it anywhere..

I used to have their cookbook, let me see if I still have it and I'll get back to you. Edited to sayI can't find it, now I know after 35 years I would not have thrown it away, it's here somewhere. I so miss the original Nut Tree, the fresh pineapple with Marshmallow sauce, the excellent fruit plate and homemade breads, and their spareribs were better than any Chinese restaurant I've ever been too. Aside from the ambience of the floor to ceiling glass birdcage, the model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, the draped canopies, and the giant rocking horses out front. They have reopened, but as an amusement park and museum, sttill have the railroad but they have even moved the original home, they call it an historic monument but they have uprooted it from it's original location, how historic is that? Anyway, fond memories of lunch at the Nut Tree.

Yes, The Nut Tres is reopening, I believe the family park has opened already. Its a HUGE renovation. I miss it there. We used to stop there all the time when we wnet from Sac to San Rafael for visits. Otherwise we would stop across the street (before all the factory stores) and eat at the Black Oak and get candy from their gift shop!

I used to live in that area and took my daughter. Maybe that's why I love to make cookies so much, because I just loved their cookie cutters.

My Mom and I would have lunch there--- great memories.

It's funny your talking about the Nut Tree. My BIL is the city engineer on the "remodel" of that proprety. I haven't been up their since it reopened.

Maybe some weekend soon we'll go there. I'm curious now.

ADo you mean the Vita chip cookies, the flat thin crunchy ones. And do you mean you can't find the cookbook, if so they sell the book at the Vacaville Museum on Buck Ave. in Vacaville Ca. I have one and remember most of the recipes.
