Hi! I am on a strict budget and diet to practice decorating my cakes! I was wondering if there was anyway to not use cake to practice? Would Styrofoam work? or is there any other material i can use?

You decorate on styrofoam dummies and can get them from Dallas Foam with good prices: http://www.dallas-foam.com/store/cakedummies.html

There are aspects you can't practice on dummies though, like torting and filling, layering and doweling to name a few.
