OK, I've seen videos and read articles about how to assemble a cupcake boquet but I'm wondering how you keep the boquet from falling out of the pot. I haven't seen anyone use hot glue or sticky tape on the styrofoam. Will the weight of the cupcakes keep it in place?

I haven't made one yet, but I've read the article on the CC home page.

I was concerned about the same thing. In the article it says that if the cupcakes are heavy the can fall, but you can use skewers or lollipop sticks to secure the heavier cupcakes. HTH!

I saw that same one on CC but it just looks like once the boquet is assembled the whole part where the cupcakes are attached might fall out of the pot - and of course this would be my luck because this is the kind of stuff that happens to me! So I'm not really worried about the individual cupcakes falling off as I am about the whole boquet falling out of the pot. I guess I'll just give it a try and see if it's even going to be an issue. I'm such a big chicken sometimes!!!! Thanks for answering me icon_smile.gif

Not a problem. I'll let you know how it turns out. It will be a few more days before I attempt it but I'll definitely get back to you icon_razz.gif

I haven't made it either but I imagine if you squashed the styrofoam ball in there good enough it wouldn't fall out of the pot. The pot may fall over if you've got heavy cupcakes, but it shouldn't fall out. Let us know how it works out. icon_smile.gif

AHHHHH! I didn't even consider that! I guess if the ball fits snug enough it shouldn't be a problem. I hadn't given any thought to the possibility of the whole boquet falling over! Maybe I'll add something to the bottom of the pot so it won't be so top heavy. Any suggestions on what I could use for a weight? Ok I'm feeling a little more confident now. I checked out that thread too so thanks for putting that in there. I'll play around with it a bit and let ya know what happens. Thanks icon_razz.gif

I know it's been a really long time, but I said I'd let ya know how it turned out so here it is. Even though it was really top-heavy, I didn't have any problems w/it falling over. I didn't use anything to weight it down either. Thanks for all your help! icon_biggrin.gif

I have made a couple of these now. I used the half styro ball. i did take a knife and shave down the sides a little to make it sit snugly down into the tin. It worked very well. I didn't have any problems and I am NOT very good at this stuff icon_smile.gif

I do have one suggestion, though. I prefer icing before I put them on so that the icing can firm up a bit. I iced them once and put them directly on and the icing slid off!

wow sarahkate80, i didn't think about using the 1/2 ball. i'll have to try that. how do you keep from putting your fingers thru the frosting when you decorate them before hand? i had 2 cupcakes where the tops fell off & had to replace them. i forgot and frosted the replacements before i put them on and had to replace those cause the frosting got messed up! i'm not too coordinated sometimes so that could be the problem!

I tried this for Mother's day and had no sucess. I had all of my pots done with the styrofoam in them. When I went to place the cupcake in the styrofoam the cupcakes just fell over onto the table. icon_mad.gif It seems that the cupcakes were to heavy. What did you use to hold the cupcakes in place. One thing I read prior to my disaster was to use toothpicks, but I can tell you that does not work. I would really love to try this again if I could find something to hold the cupcakes in place.

I didn't think that the toothpicks seemed very reliable, so I used some skewers that I had. I just broke them in half and they were much more sturdy! I also made sure that when I placed the cupcakes on, I did it at an angle. They will naturally fall downward some so I would overcompensate with an upward angle.

I hope that helps. I have my first try posted in my photos.

I will have to try the skewers next time. Thanks for the advise!

i had a little trouble w/ the toothpicks too so i stuck 2 more under each cupcake to rest on. also, instead of sticking the toothpick straight into the styro, i stuck them in at approx a 45 - 50 degree upward angle. also, i found the cooler the cupcake was, the better it stayed in place.
