Okay, so I decided to experiment tonight with differant buttercream recipies. I made the Bakers Buttercream and did not really like it. It definatly is not sweet at all, not sweet enough in my opinion and a bit bland. It is like Cool Whip but even less sweet. I think I am going to mix it with the premade raspberry filling to fill my cakes.
I also made the Whipped Cream Buttercream Icing and am undecided if I like it. This is definately a good one for all of you who are looking for a less sweet buttercream. This one is light and fluffy. For some reason, it says to not refridgerate it, does anyone know why? I just do not like the thought of my frostings sitting out on the counter for weeks. I put it in the fridge anyway since I am just experimenting. I still prefer my regular BC I make with butter and crisco.
Just thought I would share because I am always reading threads that people want less sweet BC, these are for you!

I made the Whipped Cream Buttercream icing today. My family loved it but it was much too soft to decorate with icon_sad.gif I'm new to cake decorating so I'm experimenting with all these great recipes I've found here on cc. The buttercream with butter and crisco is still my favorite icing as well.

Edited to say that now I know why it's so soft icon_redface.gif I substituted
a cup of butter for one cup of shortening. Except I only used one stick of butter instead of two sticks. icon_surprised.gif O well, live and learn icon_lol.gif
