Here is my creation! Cupcakes that MIL ordered from me for her once a month group she has.

I learned one thing.... I HATE RED ICING! icon_evil.gif I still can't get the taste out of my mouth and it's been 8 hours and 2 meals later.... BARF! I had to scrap a ton of icing and go with nice and safe red sugar sprinkles instead... bummer.

Okay, so not much right now, just my cake bites, but I will be doing another couple of cakes this month, one for military (hubby coming home for R&R). I can add more than one pick, can't I?

I used the 1M tip and the trick with the icing rolled up in saran wrap, then dropped into the piping bag. I used two little rolls of red, one on either side, and one big one of white in the middle. That creates a red strip on either side, so it shows up no matter which way you turn your tip.

Unfortunately the red coloring was just awful! I had to scrape off my swirls and re-ice. icon_cry.gif If anyone ever wondered, CK Products deep red is disgusting! Worse than wilton....

Anyhow, I had never tried squeezing three of those frosting rolls into one bag, I am now imagining the possibilities with other colors. I see more cupcakes in my future! icon_biggrin.gif

Here's my 4th of July "Stars and Bars" cake! I had neverending problems with these stripes! I couldn't for the life of me find a ruler in this house!! grrrr... so many attempts later, I was reasonably happy with it, even though those stripes still really bug me!!

OK, here's my submission for Patriotism.

Candy covered oreos...

...and ice cream cone cupcakes (before and after - never even made it to the party).

I learned one thing with the cupcakes... "don't cry over spilled cupcakes"... even though I did. icon_cry.gif At least they were just for family and friends.

Oh Gina, those oreos look outstanding, but it's the cupcakes that really lit up my night! Seeing that jumple of cones and frosting only made me want to grab a fork. Brilliant work!

Gina- so sorry about your cones...they were adorable! You're right...at least it was for family.

So...tell me how you got such sharp corners on your oreos...I've never made them, but I'm thinking they sound interesting and they look awesome.

Here is mine, I re-did the background from what is in my gallery because the pic had been taken on a clothes washer. icon_redface.gif This cake was for one of my son's backyard 4th party.

Thanks -- that is fascinating, I've never heard of such a thing. I will definitely have to try that!

But one more question: Do you have to push the open end of the roll into the tip? I'm wondering how far down to put the rolls. I've seen the double-icing bags -- this would be so much more cost effective.

Rikke... you can make anything that makes you proud to be from Denmark!! If there is an author that you revere, you can do a cake based on his/her book(s)!! We would be happy to see it!!

Here are my 4th of July themed submissions. I hope to post some more, less red, white, and blue ones later this month.

This cake gave me fits! It was so hot and humid here that day, the BC wouldn't crust and the MMF was so sticky. Having to tint the red and blue so dark didn't help much either. icon_rolleyes.gif Think I'll be using Satin Ice pre-colored for deep colors from now on! icon_lol.gif

They are super easy. I used a mold that I found on eBay but spinningleaf online sells them and I'm sure other places as well - never seen them at Michaels or AC Moore though.

Angie, those are outstanding!!!! Kudos to you!

And, 4starcakes... apparently where you're from they may call it plain, but the word we use around here is 'outstanding'!! Sometimes regional dialects get words mixed up, so I wanted to be sure and clarify that for you!!! icon_wink.gif It really is gorgeous, great work!!

Well I'm allmost imbarresed to post this cake, but a customer had ordered it today so here it is. I was allmost sad wenn they had ordered red gele on the strawberrys. The strawberrys where so perfect in the color, but as allways the customer get what they want...

BTW its the danish flag. Hope to post something funnier later in the month.
