Does This Sound Right? Hard Fondant?

I made a cake yesterday, first time with FONDANT. The dough was very hard and even though the cake looks pretty, I cannot imagine anyone would want to eat the fondant. It is getting hard and will probably not cut very smooth.

Thta's exactly what I think when I make a fondant covered cake, but once you cut into it and star chewing it, it's really not as bad as it seems when you touch it with your finger.
