I want to make cookie pops as centerpieces/favors for my daughters first party. How soon can I prepare them ahead of time? And how should I store them?
Also what is the best recipe and icing for a beginner. I just want to do some basic flowers nothing too complicated.

THANKS IN ADVANCE EVERYONE!!!!

The No-Fail sugar cookie recipe is quite popular (see the recipe section) There is also more information in the articles section about making and decoration sugar cookies.

You can make them and freeze them with no problems, as long as there isn't a lot of bright colors. When they thaw, then can sweat and sometimes the color can bleed. Pastels are generally no problem.

I wrap them in foil to include the stick, to be sure they are well protected in the freezer.
