Does anyone know if a FBCT can be made a few weeks ahead of time? That is, once put in the freezer, can it just be left there until ready for use or do you have to take it off the parchment/paper and then refreeze it in wrapped storage?

HI!!!
Well from experience.. most FBT take black for the outlining of your design... I've made them a few days in advance, you know trying to get ahead of myself.. And the black out line on my design started to set into the other colors.. like it was spreading.. I'm not sure what happened.. But also I even had white dots all over my design.. I mean maybe I didnt protect it enough.. Not really sure.. Your best bet is just to try it..
If you do, let me know what happens.. Good Luck!

The white dots are probably not from not protecting it enough. They happen frequently (especially with the new crisco) with some of the deep darker colors (red, violet, royal blue, black, etc.). For some reason, some of the fat molecules don't absorb the die immediately....good idea to mix up your colors and let them sit for atleast a couple of hours and then remix before applying. That give the die time to set in and deepen more.

Just a thought!

Thanks...hopefully we will be more enlightened as we go on... I'm thinking if I make my colors and let them sit a few days and then mix em again, hopefully it will have done all it's weeping and be settled. I have never made a FBCT before but I was hoping to make ahead and freeze as when the time comes for the cake I will have way too much going on.
