Hi all,

I have a lady that wants to take classes from me but i have not been able to get enough interest from others to run a full class. She is now asking if i would offer private classes for her. Before i was going to charge $12 per class (for each 2 hour class and have 5 classes total) per person with a minimum of 4 people.
I would love to offer her private classes but am not sure what would be fair to charge just for her. What would you all charge per hour or per 2 hour class?

Thanks for your help!!!

What's your time worth? Six bucks an hour is barely minimum wage.

Usually the price depends on two things... size of class and experience of the teacher. The larger the class, the less you have to charge the individual - and the more experience you have, the more you can charge. Remember, private lessons always cost more than a "class" setting.

Well will you be supplying the equipment or is she to bring her own? I think if she brings her own you should check out what the minimum wage is in your area and judge by that and also is she a beginner or does she have some experience? This will also judge how much tutoring you have to do. Being from canada its hard to judge I think you have to use the standards for your area.

Thanks for the advise everyone icon_lol.gif

Doug- that makes sense to see what people are charging for music lessons, thanks.

I always have a hard time with pricing because i don't want to make it so much that people just say forget it and also don't want to make it so cheap that i am selling myself short. I know the $6 per hour per person is cheap but that is for a minimum of 4 in a group and i was hoping for 6, so that would still be $25 per hour.
