Update Of The Cake I Wouldn't Do Because Of Pricing.

She called me this evening and asked me to go ahead and do it. She checked around and apparently my pricing is "right in the ballpark" with "real bakeries" around here and she wants a better-tasting product. Go figure! I'm really glad I stuck to my guns on this one. It's just funny, thought, because I'm so busy with cakes and other "stuff" at the moment, I didn't really want to do it. But heck--I feel like I have to do it now.
Oh well--such is life.

This has happened to me sort of. WHen I really dont want to do a cake I will price it high and if I get a no it's alright with me, but usually it backfires and I get the order anyways...go figure. Always stick to your guns as much as possible. Good luck.
I know what you mean. I've had people call and cancell and I've felt relieved! I love doing it, but sometimes it's just so much to deal with!
Good for you for not lowering you price to fit what she thought it was worth. I too also took on a cake order I didn't really want to do because I don't have the time but it is for a friend's daughter who is turning 13 and she has been a great friend to my daughter. I have to finish is for tomorrow as well as 2 cakes for Saturday, fathers day for Sunday and a cookie bouquet for Monday as well as working all of those days
I am right there with you guys. I mean wally world even charges 110.00 ( around my town ) for their cheapest wedding cake. I KNOW that anything I turn out is FAR better. Yes I have had people act surprised when I started out 20.00 more than that!
Those who don't bake and decorate often wouldn't know how much work we put into cake decorating. Even though I haven't experienced it yet I'm sure I'll have one of those customers one day.
