The bag of Wilton candy melts says to flavor with wilton oil-based flavors. Can I use pure peppermint extract...it contains: alcohol, oil of peppermint, and water.
This is my first time trying candy melt mints! Thanks so much!!
No you can't, the water will cause the melts to sieze. You have to make sure when playing with candy that everything is completly dry. If you do have a little water get in you can add shortening to smooth it out.
If you're looking for mint candy Wilton makes a mint melt that's actually pretty good, my husband will eat it straight out of the bag.
I have used Lorann oils for lavoring my candy melts. Just a touch of peppermint oil works wonders. I just taste test till I get the amount I like. Hope this helps. Chrysb
I never heard of adding flavor to your chocolates, but I know the places where I get my chocolate melts from have different flavors already.
There is Irish Cream which is so delicious. There is also dark chocolate mint. And I have run across some white mint too. If you are worried about adding the flavor or not sure what to do, try the preflavored ones. They have worked nicely for me. best of luck!
