I'm doing a baby shower cake for my cousin this Saturday. I just found out today that it's being increased from 60 people to 90 people! icon_eek.gif I'm planning on making a full sheet cake (2 12' x 18") with a 10" round on top of one of them. The other will be plainly decorated for serving. It's a Noah's Ark theme and my aunt wants me to duplicate the plates she has on the cake. I'm nervous that 90 people will be looking at and eating my creation! Do you guys think that will be enoughcake for 90 people?

Joe

I think it should be plenty! There will always be a few faithful no-carb dieters who will skip cake, and a couple of lactose intolerant old ladies who can't eat the frosting. You might want to decorate the 'plain' cake so that it's obvious what size pieces you intend people to eat (draw the serving piece squares with icing) to make sure they get the idea. (see http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=12&pos=44 for an example of what I'm talking about.) Your last cake turned out awesome, so I'm sure you'll do just fine! Good luck!

OH, come on Joe..... You need to have faith!!! You can do it!!!!!! What you're making will be plenty! Are you going to do a BCT or will you be doing a character cake of Noah's Ark?

Yep seems that should be enough. I am wondering after all the time I have been doing weddings, I am about to do my first one thats a renewal of vows. They are doing an afternoon thing around 2.00 PM. Between lunch and dinner so they dont have to really FEED the guests. They ( well I) are serving only punch cake nuts and mints. Should I allow for more cake since it's kinda the only sorta thing being served?

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I still feel like a newbie because I havd only done a few cakes. I talked to friend of mine who does cakes and she said the reason I crumbs in my last batch was because it was too thick. Even though it did not seem like it. This batch will be thinner. And yes, Flav, guys can spaz too. But we usually keep it too ourselves. icon_redface.gificon_cry.gificon_eek.gifthumbs_up.gificon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Joe! I think that would be plenty of cake. The 12x18 sheet cake will make it easy for them to cut. Have fun with this...and do not forget to post a pic! thumbs_up.gif
