I was just curious about others, how do you organize your time when you make a cake and have to decorate it etc. I find that I usually don't have room in the fridge for a cake. So when I am making a cake that has a filling that needs to be refrigated I am always making things right up to the time it needs to be finished icon_cry.gif
Anyway just thought I could get tips from others on this topic .

I have a second refrigerator in the garage for this reason. I make my decorating 2 days ahead of time. I bake my cakes 3 days then just put it in the freezer. So far this has worked for me.. If I need gumpaste flowers, I can make them weeks ahead of time. I take my time. I don't like to panic.

I don't. Actually, I usually ice and decorate the day before and bake the day before that. But I'm looking into another fridge.

I have an extra frig too. DH and I usually fight over it, me for cake stuff, him for meat and cheese to be smoked or BBQ'd. My 'new' plan (as of this week) is one that was mentioned here on another thread. For a cake due on Saturday, I will shop Tuesday, make frosting Wednesday, bake Thursday, frost on Friday. So far I am on schedule- my frosting is made! I am known to procrastinate a teeny bit, so I'll have to work hard to stick with this. I'm just starting out, so it's not like I'm trying to coordinate baking 6 cakes or anything.
